Some of my favorite hobbies are ultimate frisbee, skiing, and traveling. I've been fortunate enough to be able to travel through ultimate as well as study abroad in Austria and volunteer on a mission trip in China.
I started playing ultimate frisbee in high school; and coming into college, I knew I wanted
to play ultimate; it would be my outlet to destress, a
way to stay fit, and a great way to make new friends during the new transition.
Because of Covid, I was only able to play for three years; however, those three years have
been some of the best experiences of my life.
Through my time on the CSU team, Colorado State Hell's Belles, I have traveled to
tournaments in 11 states and over break I played in Austria as well which shows how
connected the ultimate community is.
My second year on the team, I was elected President and have held that position through my
senior year.
As President, I was not only a leader on the team, but I worked to manage the team's travel
by booking lodging and transportation accommodations as well as manage the budget and meet
with coaches, other officers, and the CSU sport club organization.
This has made me realize my passion for management which is a long term goal I hope to work
towards in my professional career.
I most recently have traveled to Austria for a study abroad opportunity with CSU through the Advanced Machine Design course. Through this experience, I not only was able to experience some of the well known factories in Austria, I was also able to see the historical aspects of the country as well. In addition to my time in Austria, I was able to travel to Czechia for a few days to see Prague and experience its beauty. Studying abroad was an experience I'll never forget; I made friends and made memories that I'll never forget.
More recent places I've traveled are Spain, Switzerland, and Italy; I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to get to know the different cities better and explore the beauty within each country. In addition to Europe, I have been able to travel to other states across the US and hope to be able to see all the states one day and experience their beauty and differences. Traveling is something that I have been fortunate enough to experience and for that I am thankful.
In 2019, I had the privilege to go back to China and
volunteer at an orphanage. While I was there, I was also able to sight see a little and
experience Asia for the first time.
During this trip, I hiked up the Great Wall, saw the Terracotta Warriors and experienced the
Shenyang Imperial Palace.
After sightseeing, I traveled to Xi'an to an orphanage; beforehand, I raised over $3,000
that was donated to the orphanage. As a group, we raised enough money to purchase hundreds
of diapers, air conditioners, formula, and other necessities for the children.
This experience was one I will never forget; as an adoptee myself, I resonated with this
experience on a different level and will always hold it close to me.
